If you are having problems faxing to another machine, problems with the received fax quality, or receive error 52/54's there are 2 workarounds you can try to resolve the problem. In a few weeks we will have a new ROM which will fix these problems. Until then, here some things to try.
1. Change WinFax from Class2 to Class1
There are two ways of doing this. If you are using WinFax Pro, you can re-install the software and specify the Class1 driver. If you are using Pro or OEM versions, you can modify the WIN.INI file. Run SYSEDIT, and locate the WINFAX info in the WIN.INI file. Find the line which says FAX DRIVER = CLASS2 and change the 2 to a 1. This has worked for some people.
2. Use the patched version of MOD.EXE
This program allows WinFax and WinFax Pro to work with the current Roms (v1.00-E or <) of the SupraFaxModem v32/v32bis. It will NOT work with latter ROM versions. (v1.00-F or >) To find out what ROMs are in your modem, type AT I3[CR] from the terminal mode of a terminal program.
Before using the MOD.EXE file, please copy the existing MOD.EXE found in the
WINDOWS Sub-directory, to another location, or rename to MOD.BAK.
Once this is done, place the MOD.EXE file into the WINDOWS sub-directory.
NOTE: Supra Tech Support has only been able to do minimal testing of this patch. We have experienced some connection problems on the first call to a fax machine, but a good connection on the second call. Our other test sites have not reported this problem.
3. New ROM
Please contact Supra tech support to receive the updated ROMs which will work with the original version of your MOD.EXE file. (shipping approx 5/31/92)
